Points of Interest regarding Annual
Fire Dept. Inspections
Items that need to be
gathered or checked prior to a Fire Department Annual Inspection
•
Please have
copies of your latest, Fire Alarm Test report and Sprinkler Test report
printed, these will be kept in your files at the Fire Station.
•
Please check to
see that all your permits are in order

LPG Storage
–
Flammable Liquid
Storage
–
Dumpster Storage
–
Tank Permits
Things Firefighters look for
•
We will check the
keys form the Knox Box to see that they open each locked door.
•
We will want to
see all electrical panels are marked.
•
We will want to
check every fire extinguisher.
•
We will want to
check every emergency light.
•
If you have an
elevator, we will check to see that the Firefighter recall works properly.
•
We will check Flammable/Combustible
liquids storage.
•
We will check Propane
storage.
•
We will check
that all Sprinkler valves and risers are identified.
•
We will check
that the Fire Alarm panel is clearly marked with a map and legend adjacent.
•
We will check to
see that every emergency door is clear of hazards and opens easily.
Unsafe Conditions and Fire
Code Violations often seen during a Fire Department Annual Inspection
•
Blocked Exit
doors.
•
Bolts or hasps on
Exit Doors.
•
Combustible Waste
or pallets stored near building.
•
Blocked
electrical Panels
•
Uncovered or not
labeled Electrical Panels
•
Improper
Electrical cord use – Extension Cords
are for Temporary Use Only !
•
Sprinkler heads
must have a clearance of at least 18”.
•
Sprinkler
controls must be clear of obstructions and storage.
•
Chemicals,
Flammables and Combustibles stored near an ignition source.
•
Untidy work areas
that leave flammable or combustible waste wher fires
could start.
